JUNO Magazine
What: Illustrations for the Q&A section for a bi-monthly physical holistic parenting magazine. This was an ongoing project that has now come to an end with the last physical copy of JUNO.
When: Winter 2024 to Early Spring 2026
Key Collaborators: Rachel Tapping (author), Rosalind Howard (art Director and editor).
Brief: To create engaging illustrations to accompany Rachel’s column, giving an overview of the key themes of the subject matter at a glance to help readers engage with the piece.
Creative Constraints:
I found one of the most interesting constraints of this project to be the size and shape of the canvas available. I tend to lean more towards a horizontal composition in my personal work, so it was an exciting challenge to utilise a vertical space in a different way each time.
I also found it interesting to work with the colour scheme of the piece - this was not mandatory, however I chose to take this into consideration to create a more cohesive overall page. The main colour of the page heading was a lavender purple, so I chose colours that would work well in harmony when planning the illustrations.
